At TDI we utilize state-of-the-art Open MRI imaging technology that allows us to provide our patients the comfort they desire, while maintaining the precision image quality the referring physicians require. Our Open MRI system reduces claustrophobic feelings often associated with an MRI exam. Young or old, large or small, the staff at TDI cares about your imaging experience.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a valuable medical diagnostic procedure that produces a finely detailed image, allowing your physician to see inside your body without surgery.

An Open MRI combines harmless radio frequency with a magnetic field that acts together to provide images of the anatomy without the use of radiation. This seamless blending of performance and patient comfort action allows the computer to capture images of the soft tissues, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves, in your body, enabling radiologists to diagnose a wide variety of conditions quickly and precisely.

In many instances, the MRI exam may eliminate the need for more invasive procedures such as exploratory surgery or biopsy.

You will need to arrive 30 minutes prior to scan time to complete paperwork and be interviewed by a technologist. The technologist will ask questions regarding medical history and will inquire about any implanted metal devices. You are encouraged to read the following if you are preparing for an Open MRI.

  • Wear clothing free of metal, i.e. no zippers, metal buttons, etc.

  • Metal-free clothing will be provided for your convenience.

  • Remove watches, credit cards and jewelry – secure lockable closet are also available.

  • Most exams will last between 30-45 minutes.

  • You must hold very still during the exam.

  • In most cases, family members will be allowed to accompany you in the scan room.

  • Claustrophobia is rarely an issue with our open style.

  • After completion of the test, the report will be sent to your doctor within 24 hours.
